Best of Southern Sri Lanka
A short holiday exploring the best of Sri Lanka’s wildlife and its golden beaches along the south coast. Begin with guided safaris in Yala National Park in search of leopards, sloth bears, elephants, and a variety of other wildlife. Afterwards, spend 02 nights by the beach in the south coast from where you will go on a boat safari to look for the largest living reptile in the world, the Saltwater Crocodile, and head out to sea from Mirissa to look for the Blue Whale, the largest animal to have inhabited our planet.
Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Yala (4 hour drive). Remainder of the day at leisure. Time permitting, go on an afternoon safari in Yala National Park. Spend 03 nights at the Leopard Trails Tented Camp in Yala.
Days 02-03: Early morning safaris in Yala National Park Blocks I & V for wildlife viewing with an added emphasis on leopards, sloth bears and elephants.
Day 04: Morning, leave for the coastal town of Talalla (2 hour drive). Afternoon, go on a boat safari along the Nilwala river in Matara to look for Saltwater Crocodiles, Bengal Water Monitors and water birds. Spend 02 nights at The Talalla Retreat in Talalla.
Day 05: Early morning, go whale and dolphin watching off Mirissa. Afternoon at leisure by the beach.
Day 06: Leave for the Bandaranaike International Airport / Colombo (2 ½ hour drive). Time permitting you have the option of visiting the 17th century Dutch built Galle Fort or stopping en-route in Colombo for a guided tour of the capital city.
